Bahama Breeze was a breeze.

What a feeling it is to see how your friends look once they really have grown into themselves over the years. I recently got back in touch with an old high school mate off of Facebook. I decided to plan a trip for an entire week to visit my friend Sean who lived in Miami, FL. I was extremely excited for this Reunion because I haven’t seen him in years and I know we had lots to talk about. We both decided a romantic date would best fit this Reunion plus we needed to spend quality time. When I reached down to Miami I met him at his place which was very appealing to the eye the neighborhood was clean and looked very expensive to live in. On approaching the subdivision Sean had a high tech security system at the front gate which was very impressive. When I arrived to his door he was already waiting outside for me, such a gentleman. First off Sean lived in a ranch style home so he didn’t have any stairs to disable him getting in and out or around and about. I must say Sean’s apartment was extremely spacious and accommodating to his disability. The front door was adjusted to allow him easy access in and out for example the handle on the door instead of a door knob was very accessible. The front door was very light in weight which was perfect for the amount of strength he had to put in to open the door. Sean gave me a tour of his apartment, I noticed how large his bathroom was, it much wider than a regular bathroom to accommodate him using a wheelchair inside. Sean’s bed was lower to the ground for easier access for getting into the bed without a hassle. The kitchen was very open and more lowered to a certain level and the floors had non-slip material on the floors. What was very interesting for him being a man he was very clean, there was little to any clutter in the entire apt his computer was very accessible because he had an iPad touch screen, everything was at his finger tips.

When it was time to leave we drove in my car which I helped him get in, I felt that my car was spacious and accommodating enough for him to be comfortable to ride in. Sean and I decided to eat at a Jamaican restaurant called Bahama Breeze. Which was a very large setting, it had a ramp to allow people with walkers and wheelchairs in without any problem, the restaurant was spacious enough for everyone to move around and likewise for the both of us. Sean had a great amount of legibility or ease to adapt as well as operate in this environment comfortably. There was also a ramp for anyone wanting to eat outdoors which is where we felt more comfortable plus it was less noise out.

There was a lot of activity going on throughout the establishment, because of the waiters bringing food back and forth. Yet that didn’t bother us on our date. Sean ordered crab legs, curry shrimp with white rice and a side salad with an ice cold glass of ginger beer. I ordered fried shark with curry goat and white rice with plantains on the side and a tall glass of sorrel which is a brewed tea from a plant found only in the Caribbean islands. Sean and I had lots of privacy to share our thoughts, we sat outside under a huge umbrella right next to the beach. Since we were eating outside our entertainment was the moon, stars and the unannounced fireworks, I guess it was for customer appreciation which was very entertaining yet soothing too. Yet the moon was full and shining directly in front of us.

The sensory stimulation made such an attraction on our date very strong. Not to mention the clear night skies sitting near the ocean and feeling the warm breeze come from the ocean blowing straight into our direction really topped off our night.

Despite the fact that we choose a busy night to go out to eat it wasn’t even loud like we both assumed it would be and the crowd didn’t infringe on the date being successful either. The only crowded part of the date was when everybody was getting ready to leave, what a sight to see no space to move or leave until permitted. Sean and I ended up going to the beach afterwards and drank a margarita until we got sleepy and slept on the beach for maybe an hour until the security told us we had to leave. We went back to Sean’s place and slept comfortably on his memory foam bed. The end.
