Melissa L & Mike’s Nite of FUN!!!!

I went on a date with Mike. Mike has Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)/ Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). So for our date we decided to go to Dave and Busters.
We choose Dave and Busters (D&B) to keep Mike stimulated. Having ADD/ADHD makes it hard for Mike to stay on task for long periods of time. He is easily distracted and has poor time management skills.
Accessibility
D&B is easily accessible to all whom wish to patronize. There are several handicap ramps and wheelchair accessible doors. Mike loves that they have a revolving door entrance.    .

Sensory Stimulation/ Privacy
The first part of our date we shared a private candle light dinner. We enjoyed a five course meal and we really enjoyed each other’s conversation. Here we got to spend one-on-one time getting to know each other. By going to D&B we had the chance to experience moments of privacy and also were able to interact with others.
Sociality
D&B is a very socially active environment. Their facility houses a full bar, fine dining style restaurant, dinner style dinning, karaoke, arcade games as well as sporting games, bowling alley, and pool tables. All these different degrees of activities make this a venue for all walks of life.  This location takes the limits off of who can or cannot frequent. The owners have taken extra steps to ensure that anyone wanting to have a good time is able to do so.

Activity
After dinner, Mike and I went into the gaming room. We reserved a pool table and while we waited we played several of the arcade games. We played basketball, skeet-shooting, and even played the arcade version of “who wants to be a Millionaire”. When our table was finally ready we enjoyed a game of pool, were I won of courseJ .  Because of Mike’s disability I wanted to make sure we had a variety of interactions as to not bore him or cause him to lose focus. So after our friendly game of pool we joined friends at the bar for drinks and a lite group conversation.
Adaptability/ Comfort
Although D&B is known for its fast paced environment also has a different side. Not only is it a place to go with a big group of people it is also a place you can go on a first date. There is more than adequate seating. The table’s heights are just right for someone who is utilizing a wheelchair to access. This is environment has the ability to adapt to your mood. If you want to have a good time and laugh, or if you just want to relax and enjoy an adult beverage. This is the prime location for whatever mood someone may be in.  Mike was very comfortable with the location of the date. He stated “I feel like a kid in a candy store”.  Just as quick as his attention was lost in one area, it was quickly captured by another. I was a little worried that this location would be a bit much for him to handle but he advised me that he was having a good time. Because of all the activities and different rooms when he became overwhelmed by all the lights and sounds of the gaming room, we went to the lounge area for a more private exchange.
Control
The venue is secured by the Cobb County Police Officers. They ensure that the environment is safe for all patrons. Because D&B is a gaming center, children are welcomed during certain hours. After those hours all minors have to be accompanied by an adult, age 25 and older.  After hours D&B offers specials on adult beverages. This increases the amount of adults that are in attendance after hours.
